THE ESTATE
Established in 1141, Barone Ricasoli is the oldest winery in Italy and the second oldest in the world. Based in the famous Castello di Brolio in Gaiole, the winery has created the continuous succession for their top-quality Sangiovese-dominant wines.
Francesco Ricasoli, Bettino’s great-grandson and 32nd Baron, has taken the family business since 1993, renewing the quality and personality that made Brolio wines famous by the terrior and family’s history. With many award-winning wines renowned worldwide, Barone Ricasoli continues to reinvent both the culture of winemaking and the art of drinking.

VINEYARDS AND GRAPE VARIETIES
Ricasoli’s vineyards are all on hills, with altitudes ranging from 220 to 500 meters above sea level, mostly with a south, southwest exposure. The climate is Mediterranean, with mild winters, and hot, dry summers.
Sangiovese is the reigning variety; here it finds an ideal environment where it can develop all its natural potential.
