Les Remparts de Ferriere

Les Remparts de Ferriere, Margaux AOC, is the second wine from the Chateau Ferriere estate , made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes grown on young vines. The grapes are hand-harvested when the grapes reach optimal ripeness. At the winery, the grapes undergo traditional vinification, which takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged for 12 months in two-year-old oak barrels.
Château Ferrière is perhaps the smallest estate in the Médoc, with vineyards covering just 8 hectares. The château takes its name from the merchant who owned it in the 18th century, Gabriel Ferrière, whose relative was the mayor of Bordeaux. Throughout its history, from the 18th to the 20th centuries, it was owned by only two families. This is an enviable consistency for Bordeaux, especially considering the phylloxera plague, economic crisis, and two world wars that occurred during this time. The fact that Château Ferrière is one of the smallest estates in the Médoc gives us every right to call Château Ferrière's wines rare.
